Yeah，Eclipse 3.1 正式版本（不再是milestone，不再是RC）終于下線了，美國東部時間2005年6月28日，下午12：01。 馬上就可以從Eclipse.org下載了（但是好慢，你可以想象出這個平臺有多大的吸引力了吧。 Eclipse Foundation已經(jīng)double了整個帶寬了，還是慢）。 同時Eclipse Foundation也發(fā)表了News and Noteworthy和性能評測：
Eclipse 3.1種最大，可能也是最引人注意的，可能就是性能的大幅提升了（當(dāng)然還有更多的RCP的支持）。 下圖是不同平臺測試Eclipse 3.1性能中的一個。 詳細(xì)的，可以參考Eclipse提供的3.1的性能評測。
Eclipse Foundation也發(fā)起了一個基于公益行動的“百萬下載挑戰(zhàn)”活動，即：以60天為限（因為3.0.2在60天內(nèi)達(dá)到了100萬的下載量），如果小于這個天數(shù)，那么參與這個活動的個人，可以自愿的為公益事業(yè)做些貢獻(xiàn)（比如做義工，向慈善機(jī)構(gòu)募捐等）。
“It took roughly 60 days for us to ship 1 million copies of 3.0.2. We feel we can do better than this for 3.1. For every day less than 60 that it takes for us to reach our 1 millionth download, willing members of the Eclipse community will donate either time or money (as appropriate) to a charity of their choosing. For instance, if it takes us 20 days to reach 1 million then those pledging will donate 40 times (60 days less 20) whatever they've pledged. ”
