Eclipse 位于加拿大的主力下載站點(diǎn)，在Eclipse 3.1正式發(fā)布以后，很快就接近癱瘓了，甚至連下載頁面的首頁都無法打開，原因只有一個(gè)：下載的人數(shù)太多了。 Eclipse Foundation在最快的時(shí)間里面，（也許是租借），開通了一條新的獨(dú)立專線，100Mbps的帶寬，作為新的鏡像站點(diǎn)，提供Eclipse 3.1的下載，以應(yīng)付海量的訪問人數(shù)。
進(jìn)入Eclipse 3.1的下載網(wǎng)頁，進(jìn)入Download Now: Eclipse SDK 3.1，然后你可以看到所有的鏡像站點(diǎn)，在North America中，增加了一個(gè)：Eclipse.org 100Mbps MIRROR SITE。 這個(gè)特別的站點(diǎn)是臨時(shí)的，僅僅是為了應(yīng)付短時(shí)間內(nèi)的海量下載的。 如果下載高峰過去了，這個(gè)站點(diǎn)可能會(huì)被撤掉的。
在我寫這篇blog的時(shí)候，這個(gè)臨時(shí)站點(diǎn)就時(shí)有時(shí)無（如果沒有找到這個(gè)鏡像，試試看這個(gè)link）。 而我也注意到了，在Eclipse的下載站點(diǎn)，有一個(gè)“百萬下載”的計(jì)數(shù)器（昨天還在懷疑，不知道去哪里看下載數(shù)量，估計(jì)是自己沒有注意），目前的數(shù)字是：207,906，在我寫這個(gè)blog的短短的幾分鐘里，已經(jīng)增加了5,000多次了。 當(dāng)然，這包括了下載Eclipse 3.1以及其它Eclipse項(xiàng)目（比如VE，TPTP，BIRT等），但是，我相信這其中絕大多數(shù)是下載Eclipse SDK 3.1的。

[Update]看來，Eclipse的主力下載站點(diǎn)幾近癱瘓，不全是下載人數(shù)過多造成的，Mike在他今天的blog中給出了原因：DDos攻擊。
Here is the summary from Denis (Eclipse.org Webmaster): - Attacks came from about 15 unique IP's，
- Most of those IP's belong to APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Centre)
- Attacks started as early as 10:00pm last night (Eastern)
- All the attacks were rapidly fetching the download clickthru script for a valid 3.1 download file, then aborting the download, thus artificially increasing the 3.1 count and generating useless connections to our site.
- Attacks were halted around 9:00am this morning by me
- Eclipse will be hosting a high-speed mirror within an hour
- website access still slow from the sheer amount of traffic, but usable
